Educational reform is urgent!
With the rise of Artificial Intelligence, the “future of work” calls for educational outcomes to include 21st Century skills development like creativity.
All children benefit from exposure to the arts. Those who do not learn in traditional ways are often marginalised and stigmatised. All children, including those with alternative learning styles and neurodiversity, thrive in a learning environments that uses the entire body and play.
The Department of Basic Education in South Africa mandates that learners must engage with Creative Arts Curricula (CAPS). They must be afforded the opportunity to engage with everyday learning topics via the performing arts.
